I can’t say it enough, wow. Thank you Australia for being such a wonderful host country to this now very wary traveler. The food, the people, the everything. Come to Australia now! Its the best decision you’ll make, but plan to spend some time here. You can’t just see this many different environments in a 5-day trip, but you could get a pretty good taste for just how great this place is!

I can honestly say that in all my travels the Aussie’s have it going on!! I have received tons of e-mails, comments, live chats, and on and on from the local people. I have been welcomed and been treated like a celebrity! Who knew I would become so popular?
The people in Australia are well-known for their attitude towards their lives. The people of Australia believe in living their life to the fullest.
It is this motivation which makes Australians a fun loving, courageous, talented, devoted and an adventurous nation. The Australians are also known for their patriotism.
The historical developments in Australia made it a land of diverse people and culture. The European settlements in the country wiped away the aboriginal civilization to a considerable extent reducing them to a scrimpy figure of only 2% of the population. It was in the 1960s that the Government of Australia felt the need of their revival and took adequate measures for their better living. The population of Australia still remains predominantly European with a small percentage of Asians, like myself.
The Australians have excelled in different fields of literature, art and sport. Among the famous people of Australia are Sir Edmund Barton , the first Prime Minister of Australia, a host of noble laureates like Sir Frank Macfarlane Burnet (for medicine), John Cornforth (Chemistry), John Carew Eccles (medicine) and Sir Howarth Florey (medicine) among many others. Patrick White has bagged the Noble Prize in literature. Australia is the land of great cricketers. Starting with Sir Donald Bradman , there are many down the line Allan Border, Dennis Lille, Jeff Thomson and Steve Waugh . The country has shown remarkable performance in the field of hockey also. In different meets like the Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games Australia has achieved great feat.
The “aboriginals” too have come up carving out a place for themselves in the society. The notable among them are Neville Bonner, the first Aboriginal Senator, Albert Namatzira , the famous painter and Katherine Freeman , the Olympic athlete among many others.
I am so excited to meet new people here! Comment on my page, send me an e-mail, let’s chat! HELLO AUSSIES!

This will, unfortunately, be one of my last posts from Melbourne, Australia. I have been non stop site seeing and eating wonderful dishes! This has been one of the most fun stops I have had, thank you Melbourne! I have been down to the Yarra River and walked around Port Phillip Bay.
The Melbourne Museum, on Nicholson Street, has an Imax theater! I don’t know if you have ever traveled anywhere that has an Imax, but it is breath taking. I got a chance to finally see Transformers 2, one awesome movie, especially surrounded by state of the art speakers and one of the biggest screens available!
And a planetarium? There is probably a good chance that you have a planetarium near you and you just haven’t went. Well, travel to it! Go see it, make a vacation out of looking at the stars! It was so beautiful and so hard to explain. Just imagine getting to glimpse into our Solar System and beyond? Its like I traveled to outer space!!
I will be getting my new travel orders in soon… I’m excited to be off to a new place, but I don’t want to leave Melbourne behind. Hey, where do you think I should go? Email me at ginger@blogfreetravel.com and let me know!
Hey I noticed some ping backs from Australia News Companies! I wanted to say THANK YOU for your support! The last few days down here have been tremendous. It’s been a misty day here in Melbourne, but very pleasing to the eye. Melbourne boasts of great events, a passion for food and wine, and a fabulous art scene. Known as a style-setter, Melbourne is home to a non-stop program of festivals, renowned dining, major art exhibitions and musical extravaganzas. It is my pleasure to share them with you. First off, let’s start with their change of symbol from a leaf to that beautiful M. They actually combined the leaf in with the M if you will notice. Change is positive, and I embrace it.
Tomorrow I am heading to Phillip Island. Phillip Island is a 90-minute drive from Melbourne, where I’m going to experience Australian wildlife in its natural habitat. I will get to see penguins, seals, koalas, birds, etc. I am crazy about animals. Looking forward to posting pics. Phillip Island offers plenty of exciting opportunities for water sports enthusiasts like myself. I will be paddling in the shallows of a gentle bay beach, cruising the bay in a catamaran, and finally kayaking around Rhyll Inlet to observe the large populations of waterbirds.
Most visitors base themselves in the city, the buzzing commercial heart of Melbourne. It’s also home to museums, theatres, restaurants, bars and shops. The city’s layout makes Melbourne an easy city to navigate, and almost everything is within walking distance – if it’s not, you can simply hop aboard a train or tram, which is fine by me.
In the city, you can enjoy afternoon tea in the divine surroundings of a nineteenth-century hotel, watch and be watched in buzzing laneway cafés and bars, or handpick a bottle of Yarra Valley chardonnay at the latest chic hangout. Head out a little further and explore one of Melbourne’s specialist eating destinations – Richmond for cheap and cheerful Vietnamese dishes, Carlton for Italian classics, Fitzroy for tantalising Spanish tapas. I will brief you on my entrees later to come. I can’t wait to share my travels with you!

The time is 1:52 a.m. here in Sydney, Australia and the city is happening! I just checked into this gorgeous resort, plugged in my computer, and started blogging. Considering it’s almost 12 noon in the U.S. it’s going to take me a day or so to get on their schedule. The lights are so bright, they nearly hurt my eyes. Words can’t describe how beautiful it is here. I already made a friend at the hotel whom took the liberty of scheduling my tour of the opera house in the morning. I’m going to check it out tonight to see how beautiful it is at night. This is going to be the best vacation ever!
The Darling Harbour Bridge has a lot of show lamps. Colorful, blue, red, yellow, green – you name it. Very picturesque cause you can capture the opera house and the bridge in the same picture frame. Plus you have this beautiful crown of lights. My friend from the resort has brought me down to Bondi Beach. It was at night so very quiet and hardly any people. But even in the dimmed light, I can see the water is very clear! Must be very good to swim there, so you can see all the sharks swimming around you.
